Desroches forms part of the Amirantes group of islands, 142 miles south-west of Mahé. With 9 miles of white, soft, sandy beaches and blue waters, the island is beautiful. As the only resort occupying a green, coral island in the southern part of the Seychelles, Desroches Island Resort offers visitors exceptional privacy and a tranquil environment. Flying directly in to the resort is simple via the island’s private paved runway.
The balmy days and nights create the feeling of one long, endless year-round summer with temperatures seldom falling below 72 degrees or rising above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The entire atoll has only one resort which is located towards the west of the island with accommodation options of Beach Suites, Beach Villas, 4-bedroom Luxury Beach Villas, and huge Presidential Villas. Just step out of your bedroom and you are on the beach and into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Desroches is a great resort for activities. With steep underwater cliffs replete with rich sea life, Desroches is known for some of the very best diving in the Seychelles. Coral is well preserved in the area and curious creatures like sea turtles flourish off the island’s shores.
Fishing enthusiasts will also be thrilled with the world-class diversity offshore. Wahoo, Kingfish, Sailfish, and Tuna are prevalent, and record-setting Marlin catches have made this an important destination for deep-sea fisherman. Fly-fishing is also first-rate in the area, with Bonefish and Trevally in abundance.

Desroches has 20 Beach Suites located along the west-facing beach, 4 Beach Retreats nestled amidst the tropical island forest and several feet from the beach, 23 Beach Villas that are perfect for families or small groups, a luxurious five-bedroom Beach Residence for up to 10 people, 2 three-bedroom Dibwa Retreats, the Dibwa Residence and the exclusive Madam Zabre Spa Retreat, all three of which are on the beautiful Madam Zabre Beach surrounded by dense, green foliage.
All suites and villas are air-conditioned and come with a fully stocked minibar, bidet, indoor & outdoor showers, flat screen TVs, and bicycles.

Private Dining
A variety of private dining arrangements can be made in addition to in-villa dining. Guests can choose anywhere on the island for their special breakfast, lunch or dinner. The majestic outdoors create the perfect mood for a romantic dinner or gathering of family and friends.
Snorkeling
Desroches has around six great snorkeling coral reefs that are scattered around the island. Take your bicycle and snorkeling gear and explore the island and its varied reefs. Right off the villas are the coral outcrops of the Madame Zabre snorkeling site. Guests staying in the villas can literally walk out from their bedroom, be on the beach and within moments be snorkeling amongst the reef's wonderfully colored fish. (These coral reefs are out of bounds to fishermen). The resort is fully equipped with a full range of good snorkeling gear which guests are free to use.
Diving
At Desroches, the diving is rich and diverse, featuring everything from vibrant corals, mini-walls and canyons to migrating Manta Rays. Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles are common both in water and on their habitual pilgrimages up the beach to lay their eggs.
Dive depths vary, ranging from 8 - 40 meters. Sites with regular, gentle current flows support fan corals and colorful coral formations while more remote sites shelter the larger fish species, such as the Napoleon Wrasse, Giant Grouper, Reef Sharks and Ribbon-tailed stingrays. Fishing
You do not have to venture far from Desroches to break fishing records, as it offers some rich fishing grounds. These waters boast yellow fin tuna, Striped Bonito, Bonefish, Giant Guitarfish, Bigeye Trevally, Bluefin Trevally, Giant Trevally, Moustache Grouper, Humphead Maori Wrasse and Dogtooth Tuna.
Traditional bottom-fishing produces a dazzling array of Grouper, Job Fish, Snappers and Emperors, rewarding you with some of the finest tasting fish on offer anywhere.
Desroches offers both deep-sea and salt-water fly-fishing. The resort is fully equipped with quality fishing boats that are equipped to take you around the atoll or further afield to Poivre and St Josephs in the Amirantes.

Cycling
Bicycling is the way guests get around Desroches. The island is flat and the tracks are in good condition, so the bicycling is easy and it's healthy too. Desroches supplies a range of bikes in different sizes. They are all single speed bikes with baskets up front for carrying your gear.
