One of the smallest of the granite islands in the Seychelles, Cousine Island offers an exclusive island experience with complete privacy found in very few places on earth. Situated a couple of miles off the coast of Praslin, the island is a restricted nature reserve, home to many of the Seychelles’ native birds such as the critically endangered Magpie Robin, as well as a variety of endemic flora and fauna.

A symbiotic relationship has been developed whereby the very presence of people on the island is of key importance to its life balance and by staying on Cousine Island guests contribute to the funding needed to secure its future.

As conservation is of utmost importance, no boats are allowed to visit Cousine, and the sole access is via helicopter. Only four villas were built on the island to maximize privacy and comfort, as well as reduce the footprint of people on the preserve.

Cousine Island’s chefs prepare meals to order, satisfying each guest’s individual taste. Cousine’s main dining area is in the Pavilion, overlooking the freshwater swimming pool, and offers dazzling views of the Indian Ocean and neighboring islands of Praslin, Cousin, and Aride. A popular activity entails going on an island walk with the resident ecologist and guests are encouraged to take part in the various conservation programs running on the island.

The intimate Beach House Wellness Retreat offers lovely spa treatments by Ligne St. Barth in addition to a fitness center.

The villas are built in French Colonial style to commemorate the Seychelles heritage and to provide the utmost comfort and style. The villas are situated 30 meters / 100 feet apart, all with magnificent sea views and own private beach access. The villas can be rented individually.

The Pavilion

Houses the dining area and Gecko bar. Here the chef prepares meals to order with Creole, Asian and Eastern influence. Each meal is an adventure as the open plan kitchen allows guests to interact with the chef while he prepares meals from the freshest local ingredients.

Although a small island with an environmental focus, there are a number of fantastic ways to enjoy a day.
