Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni Lodges are found along the secluded eastern reaches of the Kruger National Park - a remote wilderness area renowned for its lion prides.
Offering contemporary African chic, Singita Lebombo Lodge is a celebration of light and comfort with intrinsic touches that delight the senses. Structurally inspired by an eagle's nest the 15 loft-style suites perch high above the N'wanetsi River. A spectacular cliffside pool offsets views of the Lebombo Mountain foothills. There is also a gymnasium, health spa, wine cellar, traditional boma and a swimming pool on the property
Nestled low on the Sweni River, the more intimate Singita Sweni Lodge boasts six exclusive suites on the water's edge. Expressing a distinctly avant-garde African style, the lush surroundings blend beautifully with Sweni's charm. Sweni Lodge was influenced by the structures of dens, warrens and lairs found in the area. Flanking the Sweni River, this tranquil sanctuary is elevated on stilts with decks of timber. Even when you're indoors, you'll have the sensation of being close to the river and trees.
Insider's Guide:
Lebombo Lodge
Like the Lebombo Euphorbia tree after which it was named, the design of Lebombo Lodge is one of a kind. The fifteen suites feature contemporary finishes with beds dressed with Egyptian cotton and silky-soft throws.
Sweni Lodge
The six secluded suites, with tactile furnishings, have been carefully created to bring in the textures and shades of the bush. Designed with open-plan living in mind, your suite flows from the bathroom area, through to the lounge and into the bedroom - yet if you wish, each area may be sealed off by curtains. Try the outdoor shower overlooking the river or - for a magical experience - 'camp out' under the stars on the day bed out on your viewing deck.
Whether you are a connoisseur or just enjoy the occasional glass of wine, the experienced sommeliers will delight in introducing you to a vast selection of wines from all over the world, and will recommend the best choice to complement your meal.
Enjoy a wine-tasting where the sommeliers will guide you through several vineyards, countries, years and cultivars. They will encourage you to sample those which they sense may suit your taste. Singita sommeliers are a group of young and enthusiastic internationally traveled individuals, dedicated to enhancing guests' knowledge and enjoyment of wines.
Lebombo Lodge
Sweni Lodge
Lebombo and Sweni Lodges both have:
Singita is a great year round destination. Here is a summary of what to expect throughout the year.
November through December
These summer months are very hot and humid with either continual rains or very typically afternoon thundershowers which generally clear before the game drives depart. Lots of young animals are born during this time notably the impala lambs, which are beautiful but vulnerable to predators.
January to March
These are normally drier months with very hot days. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during this summer period. Early morning drives with early returns to escape the heat, are typical.
April
The vegetation starts changing from thick lush green bush to a slightly sparser browning bush during this autumn period. The temperatures start cooling down at night but daytime is still warm. Potential scattered thundershowers can be experienced in the afternoons.
May to June
Cold temperatures are experienced at night and at dawn during these winter months. Warm clothing is recommended such as gloves, scarves, beanies (knitted caps) and insulated jackets. Large herds of elephants start moving back into the area. The vegetation becomes totally brown and trees start losing leaves. Visibility during drives is enhanced due to sparser vegetation. The Sand River becomes a major game attraction.
July to September
This period is very dry in the bush with very cold night temperatures and therefore chilly during the early morning and late afternoon game drives. Visibility is good as the game are concentrated around water sources.
September to October
Spring is the height of the dry season boasting hot dry winds and colorless, sparse vegetation. Because the rivers and dams are low, high concentrations of game can be viewed at these areas and game viewing in general is very good. The first rains may start towards the end of October and the signs of spring and a new wet season are evident.
