Grande Roche is situated on the site of the old De Nieuwe Plantatie in the Drakenstein valley of Paarl, South Africa. Its heritage dates back to 1717 when a grant of land was given to Hermanus Bosman.
Over the years the homestead grew and changed and, in 1876, it was renovated to reflect the then popular Victorian style. The farm was bought and modernized by the Du Toit family in 1926 and after a fire in 1953 it was rebuilt as a Victorian manor house.
It was finally restored to its original Cape Dutch splendor after careful research in 1991 and transformed into a luxury hotel. In 1993, the restoration was acknowledged when the Grande Roche Estate was declared a national monument.
Today Grande Roche is a celebrated international hotel, famous for its exquisite location in the heart of the beautiful Cape Winelands as well as for its luxurious, cosmopolitan accommodation, award-winning cuisine and matchless service and hospitality.

The immaculately restored Cape Dutch homestead at Grande Roche dates back to the 18th century, and offers guests a variety of sumptuous accommodations which include 29 luxury suites and five executive rooms.
Each of the luxurious accommodations has been lavishly designed and decorated for the comfort of the guests. Grande Roche ensures that everyone who visits leaves with special memories of this unique estate escape - the treasure of the Cape Winelands.

18 Terrace Suites

5 Duplex Suites (Two Storey Suites)

From the spectacular breakfast to the innovative lunch and dinner, which is the highlight of the day, executive chefs Frank Zlomke and Jochen Riedel and their team demonstrate their art. Imaginative combinations of flavors and textures of quality ingredients are perfectly prepared and presented to make up a culinary experience of the highest order.
The stylish Bistro Allegro that adjoins the patio and pool area offers relaxed and informal dining.
The well-stocked cellar with its rare wines and vintage champagnes - is a delight to guests, who are assisted in their choice by the Head Sommelier and his team who also conduct private wine tastings.
Bosman's Restaurant
The recently renovated manor house at Grande Roche is the heart of the hotel and home to the award-winning Bosman's Restaurant. A fusion of imaginative and innovative epicurean delights will tantalize the most discerning of palates. Bosman's is a 70-seater restaurant with a terrace and patio seating 60 in fine weather. It is open seven days a week.
Bistro Allegro
A sumptuous selection of the Cape's finest fare can be enjoyed in the relaxed and contemporary Bistro Allegro. Choose to enjoy your meal out on the pool patio or in its modern, colorful interior. There are fabulous dishes to savor like fresh salads, seafood, pastas, mouthwatering club sandwiches, delicious desserts, cakes and cheese platters. The Bistro Allegro is the perfect place for a pleasant and informal meal.
Gourmet Evenings and Events
Grande Roche regularly hosts an exciting culinary events program featuring discerning food and wine connoisseurs and top wine makers and wine personalities. These Gourmet Wine Evenings are held at the celebrated, award-winning Bosman's Restaurant. South African pianists enhance the atmosphere of these Gourmet Evenings, providing quality musical accompaniment. The Gourmet Evenings' five course dinners and wines are selected by both the hosts and the hotel cellar master.
Bosman's Cigars
Bosman's has a wide range of cigars. Our staff are trained to help you select the perfect cigar to suit your taste and will expertly cut and light it for you. Comfortable venues are provided to comply with South Africa's stringent no-smoking laws, where professionally maintained Cuban, Dominican Republic or Mexican cigars may be selected from our well stocked humidor.
