Little Kulala the flagship of Namibia's extraordinary Sossusvlei area, has for several years been attracting informed travelers, who enjoy the first-rate facilities, charming hospitality and nearby proximity to the towering sand dunes.


This acclaimed desert retreat, is the only lodge with direct access to Sossusvlei, has climate-controlled villas and an elegant entertainment area that includes al fresco fine dining as a highlight.


Camp Description

  • The main lodge comprises of the reception, lounge, bar, dining room, library, wine cellar, craft boutique and veranda.

The 11 stylish thatched villas merge impeccably into the timeless desert landscape, with exquisite fittings and fixtures, innovative bleached decks each with a private plunge pool. The extensive use of neutral colors, gorgeous textures and natural light reproduce the soothing pastel tones of the desert. Each villa has a rooftop 'skybed' for romantic stargazing, with both indoor and outdoor showers.


Accommodation

  • 11 luxury chalets
  • Each "kulala" (chalet) is especially adapted to the unique desert conditions, built on a platform to ensure maximum airflow, thatch roof provide a cool respite from the sun
  • Air-conditioning ensures a comfortable temperature
  • Fully stocked bar fridge in every room
  • All chalets have an en-suite bathroom with inside and outside showers
  • Each chalet has a private Veranda, Sala and plunge pool
  • A private rooftop area on top of the bathroom gives guests the opportunity of spending a night under the magnificent night sky for which bedrolls are available

Little Kulala offers great food in unique dining environments. Meals are consumed at the main dining area with other guests, amid the sand dunes, or maybe in a romantic location for a special private feast.


Dining

  • The dining room, pub and living area have beautiful views of the sunset
  • Meals are often had at a large table so guests interact with each other
  • A light breakfast is usually served before the morning activity
  • A full brunch or lunch is often served at the sand dunes
  • Dinner is a three course meal served after the afternoon/evening activity
  • Drinks are often had at the fire after dinner
  • Local drinks and house-wines are included but premium imports are not
  • Private dinners are easily arranged

Early morning guided game drives to the spectacular towering dunes are through a private gate into the reserve. Guided drives and walks are also offered on the private reserve with incredible views, desert animals and smaller desert fauna and flora. Another option, at extra cost, is a 60-minute balloon safari at first light, offering a truly unique experience to soar silently above the magnificent sand dunes and desert, ending with a champagne breakfast.


A water hole in front of the main building gives the opportunity to see Oryx, Springbok, Bat Eared Fox, Aardwolf, Ostrich and Jackals. Some Spotted Hyenas can be heard at night.

Day 1 - Arrival

3:45 PM - Depart on afternoon activity (Sundowner / Sesriem) / Guided Walking trail

7:00 PM - Dinner at the lodge


Day 2

5:30 AM - Wake Up

6:15 AM - Light breakfast is served

6:30 AM - Depart on Sossusvlei excursion

Full buffet brunch is served on the dunes

Return to Lodge

5:00 PM - Depart on afternoon activity (Sundowner / Sesriem) / Guided Walking trail

8:00 PM- Dinner at the Lodge


Day 3 - Departure

5:00 AM - Wake up for Ballooning

5:30 AM - Light breakfast is served

05:45 AM - Depart to Ballooning

Return after ballooning in time for your departure
