Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa is the first luxury resort in the Maldives to be located south of the equator in the Addu Atoll. This heart-shaped atoll has some of the biggest islands in the Maldives, and a stunning coral reef formation that is the largest in the country.
The resort offers both beach and over-water villas. The mood throughout the villas is one of serenity, with touches of Middle Eastern and Indian elements. All villas located on the beach come with their own pools, even the tropical tree house villas which are perched on stilts among the treetops.
For diving enthusiasts, there are more than 25 dive sites teeming with marine life, including the dramatic 140-meter British Loyalty shipwreck with its hull resting at 33 meters, just a half-hour boat ride away from Villingili Island. Those seeking an experience with a difference can enjoy a cruise on a luxury yacht with lunch on the equator.
Guests can explore by bicycle the five neighboring islands connected by a 10-mile road, which is the longest in the Maldives. Exploring Shangri-La's island is also great by bicycle as there is an extensive network of paths and trails through the jungle-like interior. There are also a couple pretty fresh water ponds around the island, the only resort with such scenery. For those wanting to be less active, the resort can easily transport guests around the island by buggy.

Villas have a contemporary Asian design, with Middle Eastern and Indian touches. Each villa has centralized air conditioning with thermostat control and have the following features: two iPods and a docking station, a 40-inch television, a DVD player, IDD telephones with voice mail and wake-up call services, laundry and valet services, well-stocked mini-bar, espresso machine, personal safe, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and a pillow menu.
Shangri-La Villingili is located on a large island by Maldivian standards. The island is longer than it is wider (still quite wide by Maldivian standards). One side of the island has beautiful beaches with crystal clear water while the other side of the island has lots of hard coral that feels likes rocks. The side with the hard coral does not offer beaches or access to the water.
Pool Villa
Pool Villas overlook lush vegetation and feature their own private good sized pool, terrace, luxurious oval bathtub, indoor and open-air showers and his and hers vanity counters. Guests enjoy ocean views from the comfort of their bed. Floor plan

Deluxe Pool Villa
Deluxe Pool Villas have their own spacious garden and intimate coral/rock beach front. Set over two separate pavilions, to one side is a spacious living room pavilion and on the other the large bedroom/bathroom pavilion. There is a luxurious oval bathtub, indoor and open air-showers and his and her vanity counters. The bedroom and bathroom look out to the sea, while the spacious patio features outdoor furniture designed for dining under the stars. Ocean View Villa with Pool
With stunning views of the ocean, the Ocean View Villas are appropriately named. Perched on stilts three meters above the ground, this is luxury accommodation that gives guests a memorable stay in a tropical setting. Each of the 8 luxury Ocean View Villas has its own infinity pool set high above ground. Guests can swim-up to the edge watching waves roll in from the ocean or choose to recline on their sun beds and enjoy a heightened sensation of elevation. Villa Laalu
A compound with a number of structures creates one of the larger land villas in the Maldives. Two large, high-ceiling bedrooms, an extensive garden, large deck, and pool area make up some of what this villa offers. The tastefully appointed master bathroom brings the outdoors within. A luxurious tub for two is raised from the floor on textured stone, with an adjacent cascading water feature and a spa pavilion. Round-the-clock, in-villa dining can be enjoyed in the living room with timber-decked verandahs, or in air-conditioned or al fresco dining pavilions. Exploring Nature

Underwater Trails and Coral Gardens - Snorkeling
Trails leads out to the resort's house reef on the northern end of Villingili Island. Submerged signage identifies resident marine life along the way, including branching corals, sea anemones, Maldives anemone fish, and many more. The marine specialist also created snorkel gardens close to the shoreline of the resort, ideal for less experienced swimmers and children.
Guided Bike Tours in Addu
Explore by bicycle the five neighboring islands connected by a 10 mile road that is the longest in Maldives. Set out with a picnic and discover the fascinating lifestyle and culture of untouched Maldivian villages or stop at a coffee shop to chat with the locals over a meal.

CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La
Located in its own spa village within the resort, with spacious individual treatment villas offering "spa-within-a-spa" environments. There is also a unique yoga pavilion overlooking the Indian Ocean. Body massage, exercise, stretching, hydrotherapy, and movement of the mind through relaxation and meditation combine to assist the body's natural renewal and form the basis of the CHI spa philosophy. The Health Club comprises top-of-the-line gym equipment as well as separate steam rooms and saunas. The Health Club team offers a selection of healthy activities including aqua gym, island jogging and Pilates classes. A Hair Salon is also available.

Two International Tennis Federation grade tennis courts are available. Beginners can choose to take a lesson with the tennis pro who is also a perfect partner for experienced players.

The Shangri-La Eco Center is a place to discover, entertain and educate, in an interactive and lively atmosphere. Guests will gain an in-depth understanding of the conservation works around Villingili island and learn how they can get involved and support the resort's efforts.
